The Cliffs of Moher are a »must see«. Rising to over 200 metres, this dramatic Atlantic coastline is one of the most famous and popular sights in the Republic of Ireland.
The Irish name of the cliffs is Ailltreacha Mothair. Mothair was the name of a fort that stood here before the (Napoleonische Kriege) Napoleonic wars when it was replaced by a signal tower.
On the highest point of the cliffs there is an observation point from where, on a clear day, you can see as far as the Aran Islands.
