Nicht nur Ausländer, sondern auch Muttersprachler haben ihre lieben Probleme mit der englischen Sprache. Nicht selten sind Lehrer verzweifelt, wenn sie die Aufsätze ihrer Schüler korrigieren müssen. Die meisten Fehler treten bei gleich klingenden Wörtern wie their/there, its/it's usw. auf.
Im Extremfall geht man als Schüler den Weg des geringsten Rechtschreibwiderstands und kürzt seinen Text einfach nach SMS-Art. So hat z.B. ein zwölfjähriges schottisches Mädchen in der 7. Klasse seinen Aufsatz über die letzten Ferien im SMS-Stil verfasst und seinem Lehrer damit schlaflose Nächte bereitet.
