If-Satz Typ I

if + Simple Present, will-Future

Typ I drückt aus, was passieren wird, wenn eine Situation in der Gegenwart / Zukunft erfüllt ist.

Beispiele:

If you send your order by fax, we will deliver the goods immediately. Wenn Sie den Auftrag faxen, werden wir Ihnen die Ware umgehend zusenden.(i)
If you invite me for lunch, I will help you with your presentation. Wenn du mich zum Mittagessen einlädtst, helfe ich dir bei deiner Präsentation.(i)

If-Satz Typ II

if + Simple Past, would + Infinitiv

Typ II drückt aus, was passieren könnte, wenn die derzeitige Situation anders wäre.

Beispiele:

If we had more employees, we would work more efficiently. Wenn wir mehr Angestellte hätten, würden wir effizienter arbeiten.(i)
If we delivered poor quality, we would not be the leading company in our business. Würden wir schlechte Qualität liefern, wären wir nicht das führende Unternehmen in unserer Branche.(i)

If-Satz Typ III

if + Past Perfect, would + have + past participle

Typ III drückt aus, was in der Vergangenheit hätte passieren können, wenn die damalige Situation anders gewesen wäre.

Beispiele:

If you had read the paper, you would have seen the advertisement. Wenn du die Zeitung gelesen hättest, hättest du die Anzeige gesehen.(i)
If I had taken the bus, I would have been late. Wenn ich den Bus genommen hätte, wäre ich zu spät gekommen.(i)
